Innovation! Student uses UTA Fablab to 3-D print school spirit horse cock.

On Tuesday afternoon, the winning design of the UTA spirit horse was unveiled in front of Woolf hall. The minimalist design features the classic Maverick orange and blue as well as a large, flaccid horse cock.

The subtle changes are the brainchild of engineering junior Scott Steffins. “I got the idea for adding a cock to the spirit horse by looking at real horses” says Steffins. “There wasn’t much to be improved upon as far as the painting goes, but I thought the spirit horse would look better if it were anatomically accurate.”

Students and animal rights activists alike have gone wild for the new design. “Adding a horse cock to the spirit horse is a step in the right direction for a school administration that’s been historically repressive of exhibitionism.” Said graphic design student Janice Diaz.

Steffins spent countless hours in UTA’s own fablab using a 3-D printer to craft the ten-and-a-half inch horse cock. The fablab staff of student workers were on standby to assist with printing and logistical issues.

“I’m honored to have my design chosen and to be part of such an amazing tradition.” Steffins said of his achievement. The new design is a blend of biology and engineering, of machine and living tissue, and a testament to what the human mind is capable of when creativity is encouraged.
